What is the MetaMask Email Scam?
"MetaMask email scam" is a phishing spam campaign. The scam emails are disguised as verification requests from MetaMask - cryptocurrency wallet software interacting with the Ethereum blockchain. It must be emphasized that these letters are fake and in no way associated with ConsenSys Software Inc. - the developers of MetaMask.
You are prompted to click on an embedded link in the email to verify your account. The link then takes you to a fake MetaMask website.
Note: the fake MetaMask website looks nearly 100% identical to the genuine one. Please take a look at the web address carefully – the legitimate domain of MetaMask should be metamask.io
